Design & Troubleshooting

The Young Industries, Inc. is unique in its abilities to provide complete bulk material handling systems to our customers. We are a registered engineering firm and we are certified to provide engineering services. Our staff of degreed Mechanical Engineers and registered Professional Engineers are available to discuss you application; just give us a call.

We are very knowledgeable in process and structural engineering as well as mechanical conveying equipment. Typical bulk material handling projects include dilute and dense phase systems, hoppers, bins, silos, control panels and structural supports that interface with our conveying and processing equipment. We regularly interface with other existing or new process equipment and can provide complete systems layouts for your approval.

During engineering, we carefully consider and record the characteristics of the bulk material, as determined through our extensive bench test. This approach eliminates typical problems seen in bulk material handling designs when the equipment is specified without a complete understanding of a material’s flow behavior or unique characteristics such as particle size, bulk density, angle of slide, abrasiveness, friability (attrition or breakage of particles), cohesiveness. We have over 70 years of experience with thousands of different bulk materials.

Certifications

The Young Industries, Inc. has both ASME U/UM and National Board R certifications. ASME is the international mark of safety and quality. Our ASME certifications fall under Pressure Vessels Section VIII Division 1. Products with an ASME certification are third party inspected to insure the highest level of public safety and quality. The National Board is the organization set in place for the inspection of boilers and pressure vessels. A type R certification allows us to legally repair any pressure vessel.

Why Choose ASME Certification?

Process Improvement Services

Our engineering personnel are available to visit your plant and observe your processes in operation. Meetings with engineering and maintenance personnel are helpful in determining current process issues and possible solutions. We will provide documented solutions and estimated cost savings to validate the suggested process improvements. Our process improvement recommendations have saved our customers millions of dollars.

Troubleshooting Services

The Young Industries, Inc. has over 70 years of experience in solving material handling problems. We can pinpoint the cause of equipment failure and provide long-term solutions. We can design and manufacture replacement components for existing equipment that are much higher in quality than the original equipment. We can improve the life of equipment and significantly reduce downtime. Our customers have reduced maintenance costs, increased production and improved profitability. Our engineering staff is always available to assist customers with questions for any of our systems or components.

Plant Survey Services

Many plants that use bulk material handling equipment do not have complete detail drawings and documentation of the existing equipment. Our personnel are available for plant visits to measure and document all the components and assemblies for the bulk material handling equipment in the plant. We will then make dimensional component and assembly drawings of the equipment. These plant visits insure the equipment will fit when it arrives.

Project Management

Every project starts with an idea. Our engineering staff assists customers to develop a project from the initial stages through installation and start-up. Our engineers are knowledgeable in ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) pressure vessel design, NFPA guidelines and how it relates to handling explosive products, CEMA (Conveyor Equipment Manufacturing Association) guidelines, and we can use this knowledge in the development of systems or components to meet your needs.

We can work independently with the engineering firm managing your project, or directly with your in-house engineering team, adhering strictly to your specifications, documentation requirements, and timelines.

Using samples of bulk material you supply, we can evaluate your material in a state-of-the-art test laboratory on full-size equipment configured and accessorized to simulate your system, supply the equipment on time, help oversee your installation, train your personnel, guarantee its performance and service it on-site.

Each project is handled by an individual Project Manager, and or Project Team. Working with our customer, we develop a critical path to meet the project requirements. Our engineers are available to assist the customer in review of models and drawings either by on-site visit or video conferencing.

Once released to manufacturing, project management remains involved in the process and keeps you up to date on each system component to assure that each piece of equipment meets the over-all system requirements.

Once your solution is built, we offer a complete line of inspection and testing options. These options include radiography, liquid penetrate testing, hydrotesting, soap bubble testing, PMI ( Positive Material Identification), sound testing, and much more. We can even completely set your system up and do a factory acceptance test (FAT) with your material so when your system arrives there will be no surprises. We have a seperate high bay building just for FAT’s.
